Pride - /prʌɪd/

noun. a feeling that you respect yourself and deserve to be respected by other people.

Stoke-on-Trent Pride is celebrating its 12th year in 2018 and continues to go from strength to strength.

Stoke-on-Trent Pride had humble beginnings when it started in 2006 in the car park of Hanley´s old gay venue, The Club. Since then, we have grown to become a Registered Charity in our own right, managed by our Trustees and Committee members. The committee is an excellent, diverse mix of active local people who believe that Stoke-on-Trent Pride is crucial to the representation of the LGBT* community in our city.

Our main focus is our annual celebration day held at Hanley Park. With an arena providing live entertainment, themed pockets and zones for interactive arts and activities, picnic areas and a wealth of stalls and food outlets, we aim to provide a family-friendly day that celebrates both the LGBT* community itself and our engagement with the wider community of the Potteries and beyond.

There is also a very serious side to what we do. With the help of many community supporters, we are also able to use some of our events to provide essential health information, screening and support services to members of the LGBTQ that might not be reached through other channels.

In addition to the Big Day itself, we organise several fundraising events throughout the year and proudly support other LGBT* groups and events in the city - such as the Staffordshire Buddies´ vigil on World AIDS Day. Please keep an eye on this site for opportunities for you to lend your support.

All our events rely on the support of our wonderful volunteers, many of whom return year upon year. If you would like information on joining our volunteers - also known as the #RainbowArmy - click here.

It is the ethos of the committee to run a totally transparent Charity, to hold public meetings in order to learn what the local community wants for their Pride event and to endeavour to create an event which not only celebrates the diversity of our LGBT community but also to create an event which is a family friendly event which is accessible for all.

Stoke on Trent Pride is run by passionate members of the community for the community, however we cannot do this without the help of the general public and local businesses. We rely totally on private donations, sponsorship and the generosity of the community in our bucket collections. We spend a full 12 months raising money and planning each event through various fundraising events. These fundraising events not only raise much needed funds but help to bring the community together.

We have various ways in which you can get involved in the Charity, whether it is by becoming a volunteer, by attending our fundraisers, by becoming a Sponsor, by having a stall at Pride or by simply making a donation.

Together we can make Stoke on Trent Pride a great event. Together we can celebrate diversity in our community. Together we can help to stamp out homophobia and transphobia. Together we can celebrate Pride, not only Stoke on Trent Pride but Pride in Stoke on Trent.
